Bankhouse Productions is very proud to announce the release of our feature film ‘SOUTH’ hitting cinemas nationwide on November 25th.

Director Gerard Walsh first approached us in August 2015 script in hand and full of determination and before we knew it we were already in pre-production. We knew instantly that this was something special but nothing could have prepared us for the journey we were about to embark on over the next 14 months.

We assembled a small but very capable team consisting of Writer/Director Gerard Walsh, Production Manager Kamal Ibrahim, Cinematographer Kevin Treacy, Sound Engineer Caimen Agnew and MakeUp Artist Sara Griffin lead by Producer Matthew Toman and by 27th September 2015 we had wrapped on principle photography.

‘SOUTH’ tells the story of Tom, a young man struggling with the recent death of his father. After finding a note from his estranged mother he decides to journey cross country to try and find her. Throughout this journey Tom tries to overcome his crippling stage fright as a musician and along the way meets Jess, a free spirited young woman that captivates his mind and heart.

By June 2016 we received word that ‘SOUTH’ was to be accepted into the Galway Film Fleadh making this our official Irish Premier. ‘SOUTH’ then went onto sell out at Galway, win best feature at the TMC London Film Festival, win best feature at the Fingal Film Festival, screen at the IndieCork Film Festival to now getting nationwide cinema release north and south of the Irish border.

Of course this would not have been possible without the great work from Darragh O’Toole, Emily Lamey, Joe Rooney, Andie McCaffrey Byrne and the rest of our amazing cast as well as the fantastic work done by PR and marketing consultant Anna Lavery.

We’d also like to thank our sound designer Nikki Moss, musicians Sean Riddick, Sarah Lawlor and Brona Keogh, Temple Lane Studios, Westland Studios, Gorilla Post Production, Film Equipment Hire and Executive Producers Doug Leddin, Patrick Joyce, Robbie Connolly, Tom Lynch, Paddy Slattery, Tom Kelly and Dan Fitzgibbon.

Help us on our quest to get Irish film out there and see ‘SOUTH’ in cinema from November 25th. In the meantime please enjoy our behind the scenes – From script to screen.
